Project Overview
Graham Schofield Associates (GSA) was appointed to provide civil engineering design and infrastructure solutions for the BESS Compound and associated enabling works. The project required a strategic approach to site development, integrating heavy-duty foundations, access roads, and drainage solutions to support the large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
Scope of Work
- Reinforced Concrete Foundations: Ensuring structural integrity and longevity of the BESS units.
- High-Capacity Access Roads & Bridge Crossings: Designed to support heavy transport and maintenance vehicles.
- Drainage & Sitewide Infrastructure: Implementing water management solutions to mitigate surface water runoff and improve sustainability.
Challenges and Solutions
Heavy-Duty Structural Requirements: The compound needed engineered foundations capable of supporting substantial equipment loads—GSA designed deep reinforced concrete piles to ensure maximum stability.
Site Accessibility & Logistics: With multiple infrastructure elements, the project required a well-planned access strategy—GSA developed a comprehensive road layout and bridge crossing solutions to facilitate smooth transport movements.
