Scapa Tape acquired a portal framed Industrial Building to facilitate a new production process system.  GSA where appointed as project manager and lead designer in connection with the building modifications to accommodate new process plant and equipment.

 

A substantial element of the works involved the alterations to the building to house a vertical process of over 15.0 m in height. After consideration and alternative cost exercises it was decided to “jack-up” the existing portal frames from a height of 5.0m to 15.0 m with the roof cladding intact.  Approximately 2700sq.m of roof where lifted by this manner.

 

GSA carried out the design check and strengthening works to the existing frames and administered the contracts for separate, but overlapping steel; cladding; scaffold and specialist lifting contracts.
